Please Pray for Northern Illinois

Hi folks,

As you may know, a massive shooting occurred yesterday at Northern Illinois University, on par with the tragedy that happened here less than a year ago.  Please pray for the students, staff and faculty, and anyone else involved or affected by this horrible incident.  There is power in our prayer, because God hears and honors his children’s prayers, and we are able to weep with NIU.  We are praying for you all!

Prayers from Around the World

VT Ribbon CrossPeople are praying for Virginia Tech from around the world. In the past two days, I’ve talked to people concerned about our campus from more states than I can count . . . Wisconsin, Ohio, Louisiana, Florida to name a few.

We wanted to share some of the prayers and stories that have been flowing into vtONE from around the world. Take a look at these stories, and feel free to add a comment and share your own stories.

A big God thing is starting on our campus, and I can’t help but believe that Satan is using this catastrophic event to try and get us to lose sight of God’s mission for us. Let’s remember who our king is and give Satan a slap in the face by turning this tragedy into a huge opportunity for ministry and a huge testimony of God’s faithfulness in the midst of crisis.

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:28-31

24 Hour Prayer: March 30-31

Before we come together as a campus and worship, we want to lift our campus up in prayer. We’re not talking about praying for 15 minutes before the worship event, or even an hour. We’re going to be praying for 24 hours before the worship event through the end of the worship event.

To make that happen, we need some people to volunteer to spend 1-2 hours praying for our campus. We’re looking for at least 3-4 people to be praying at a time, so grab a few friends and email vt-one@vt.edu to grab a spot.

7pm – 10am at the Prayer Room (directions)
10am – 10pm in Squires meeting room 217 (near Commonwealth Ballroom)

See the schedule for 24 hour prayer here.

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
2 Chronicles 7:14-15
